Kerala Kings become champions of first T10 League tournament
SHARJAH: against Punjabi Legends here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium last night Kerala Kings won the final of first T10 League by 8 wickets
Punjabi Legends put 120 on board driven by fiery knocks of Shoaib Malik (26) and Luke Ronchi (70) in the final clash of first T10 League tournament.
The 100-run partnership between Ronchi and Malik helped pile a formidable target but was chased by Morgon, 63 off just 21 and Sterling’s 52 off 23 deliveries and the Kerala chased their target in just 8 overs.
Kerala Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first against Punjabi Legends.
Earlier, in the first semi-final, Kerala Kings cruised into final of first edition of T10 League after beating Maratha Arabians by five wickets on Sunday here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
KK skipper Eoin Morgan’s fiery 53 off 32 proved trump card for his team to win the first semi-final of the tournament.
Morgan-led Kerala Kings won the toss and elected to field against Imad-led Maratha Arabians.
Maratha Arabians set 98 runs target with the help of Bravo (27) and Imad Wasim (13)’s partnership. Sohail Tanveer bagged three wickets, while Plunkett and Emrit got two scalps apiece.
In the second semi-final, Punjabi Legends won the semi-final against Pakhtoon Team by 9 wickets to cruise into the final of first edition of T10 League.
Misbah-led Punjabi Legends will now lock horns with Kerala Kings in the final as the later have already qualified for the final after beating Maratha Arabians by five wickets.
Luke Ronchi (60 off 34) and Shoaib Malik blasted Pakhtoon with the blade. Malik was quicker with 48 in 17 balls with the help of six 4s and three 6s. The former Pakistani skipper got Best Batsman award.
Shahid Afridi won the toss for Pakhtoon and elected to bat first.
Afridi (41) and Ahmed Shehzad (58) made remarkable contributions for their team but unfortunately the their bowling side could not save the match.
Dawlat Zadran and Ravi Bopara got two wickets each for Legends. —Agencies
