WAPDA gets Rs 114bln

ISLAMABAD: The Government has released about six hundred and twenty-nine billion rupees out of total seven hundred billion rupees for Federal Public Sector Development Programme during the financial year. This included over eighty-nine billion rupees foreign aid component. According to Planning Commission officials, over one hundred and fourteen billion rupees have been released to WAPDA for power sector development. Over one hundred and eleven billion rupees have been released to National Highway Authority, thirty-eight billion rupees to Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and over twenty-five billion rupees to Pakistan Railways for different development projects. Similarly, ninety-two billion rupees have been released for Special Federal Development Programme for Temporary Displaced Persons and Security Enhancement, around twenty-one billion rupees for Pakistan Millennium Development Goals and Community Development Programme, over forty-five billion rupees for Special Areas including AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, SAFRON and FATA and twenty billion rupees for Prime Minister’s Youth Programme during the last fiscal year. —PPI
