AC directs NAB to held Dar guarantor’s properties
ISLAMABAD: An accountability court yesterday ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials to attach the properties held by a guarantor of Ishaq Dar, on account of his failure to ensure the presence of the indicted finance minister before the court.
According to details, Judge Mohammad Bashir was hearing the reference regarding assets that were disproportionate to known means of income, filed against Dar by NAB on Supreme Court orders. At the previous hearing, the court had issued a final warning to the guarantor, Ahmed Ali Qudusi, to produce Dar in court or forfeit surety bonds worth Rs5 million.
Quddusi neither presented Dar before the court not did he submit Rs5m surety in exchange for his properties. Therefore, the court ordered NAB to attach Quddusi’s properties and submit a report on December 18. With the attachment, the properties held by Dar’s guarantor will become part of case record and will remain in the court’s custody.
The court had on Monday declared Dar a proclaimed offender for his continued absence from proceedings in the case. –Agencies
