Sindh lawyers observe ‘black day’

By Staff Reporter

KARACHI: The legal fraternity of Sindh yesterday observed 3rd November as a ‘black day’ as then President General Pervaiz Musharraf had imposed emergency in the country, suspended the judges who refused to take oath under Provisional Constitutional Order (PPO) and banned several news channels on the same day in 2007. Responding to the call given by Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), the lawyers stayed away from the courts, causing suspension of its proceedings. However, the hearings of important cases were carried out in the judges’ chambers. Sindh Bar Council executive committee chairman Advocate Wahab Baloch said that the lawyer community had contributed more than anyone in restoration of the judiciary by scarifying their lives.
