KU to save Rs10mln by installing water meters

KARACHI: University of Karachi (KU) on the directives of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan has initiated the installation of water meters in the campus. In the first phase, 3 meters were installed in the campus recently due to which KU managed to save Rs 5.3 million this month while Rs 10 million are expected to be saved monthly after the installation of three more meters making it a total of 6 meters in the campus. It was mentioned that this issue was not dealt with seriousness in past therefore KU has to pay the bills of additional Rs 10 million monthly, Dr. Ajmal Khan expressed great concern on this issue soon after assuming the charge of the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Khan took personal interest for installation of meters and its positive outcomes are now evident. Moreover, KU was paying around 2.8 million Rupees to the employees of Evening program in the varsity, Vice Chancellor took notice of this and additional employees were sacked, therefore now this expense has been curtailed down to Rupees 1.4 million. Vice Chancellor has also introduced online system for admissions thisyear, expense of 6.5 million for printing of prospectus will be saved. Vice Chancellor is taking personal interest to resolve the financial crisis of the varsity and analyzing other expenses as well.
