3.76 mln pairs of footwear exported

ISLAMABAD: Footwear exports from the country during first four months of the current financial year have registered 1.07 per cent increase as compared to the exports of corresponding period of last fiscal year. According the data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, about 3.76 million pairs of footwear were exported during July-October, 2016 against 3.33 million during the same period of last year. During the period under review, the country earned $ 31.427 million by exporting different kinds of footwear as compared to $ 31.094 million earned in the same period of last financial year. Meanwhile, the export of leather footwear increased by 9.23 per cent as about 1.985 million pairs of leather footwear worth $ 26.937 million were exported this year against 1.697 million pairs valuing US$ 24.661 million during the same period of last year. However, exports of canvas footwear decreased by 45.77 per cent as about only 32,000 pairs valuing $ 0.154 million were exported this year against 81,000 pairs valuing $ 0.248 million during the same period of last year. —PPI
