KARACHI: Raising eyebrows over the police report on Awais Shah abduction case, judges of Supreme Court yesterday discredited it and directed secretary Establishment Division to institute action against the police officers involved. Hearing Karachi law and order case at Supreme Court Karachi Registry, the apex court expressed displeasure over the police report, terming it misleading. The Sindh Chief Secretary told the court that action has been taken up against four police officers of SSP and SP ranks and 24 officers of DSP rank. The court was briefed that police’s 15 Madadgar system is not functioning properly and CCTV cameras also are not working correctly in Karachi. Justice Amir Hani Muslim queried as to who sanctioned installing useless cameras, wondering if judges will see about the administrative affairs as well. The court ordered that a comprehensive report to be submitted in the next hearing on July 28, detailing the officials responsible for installing dysfunctional CCTV cameras in Karachi.
