OIC seeks Indian permit for visit IHK

REPORTED HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS

ISTANBUL: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has reaffirmed its support to the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The OIC said this in response to a recent press release by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding the resolution adopted on Jammu and Kashmir. The OIC said that it has endeavoured to engage with India to help in finding a peaceful resolution of the dispute. The OIC has urged New Delhi to permit a delegation of its Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) to visit Kashmir to verify reported human rights violations in the territory, a report said yesterday.   The report said that OIC reaffirmed its support to the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.  “The OIC said this in response to a recent press release by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding the resolution adopted on Jammu and Kashmir,” a report in Pakistan Today said.   The OIC said that it has endeavoured to engage with India to help in finding a peaceful resolution of the dispute. OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on a dialogue between Islam and the Western world in the capital city of Kazakhstan that the Kashmir issue needed to be solved as per the wishes of the people, adding that a settlement should be acceptable to all parties i.e. Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris. This, he added, would result in durable peace in South Asia.  “We support the dialogue process that was started between Pakistan and India and advocate settlement of conflicts through peaceful means,” said the OIC secretary general.
