NEW DELHI: India has invited Pakistan to the South Asian Speakers Summit being held in Indore next month. However, while quoting top government officials, the Indian media said Pakistan has declined the invitation. Other South Asian nations, all members of SAARC, have confirmed their participation for the summit on achieving sustainable development goals. The conference will be held on February 18-19th by Indian Parliament and Inter-Parliamentary Union in Indore. This would be the first high-level engagement among South Asian nations since the cancellation of the SAARC summit which was to be held in Islamabad in November last year. Soon after a terror attack on Indian soldiers in IHK’s Uri sector – apparently an “inside job” – India had forced several other countries to withdraw from the summit.
